    Alexandre Leboucher

    Known as Alex

Alex created Fade with friends from his student days, and later turned it into 1112. He wrote the story and design of every episode, and was around twenty when Fade came out. His first game credit is on the art team of Demise: Rise of the Ku’tan (2000).[2][3][4]

After three years at Étranges Libellules in Lyon, designing The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon, he grew tired of big teams and started Agharta Studio with Val and Aurélien. He first tried 1112 on the Nintendo DS, then moved it to the iPhone just as the App Store opened in summer 2008.[3][5]

In 2008 he planned 1112 as six episodes, each about six months’ work, with every episode after the first sold for €3.[6]

Louis Everett is a mix of Alex and Johnny Depp: Alex wasn’t “heroic looking” enough, so Val blended the two.[2]

In 2014 he told fans that Episode 04 would need about $108,000 and twelve months of work, money the studio didn’t have.[7]

When the rest of the team wanted to make small VR games rather than finish 1112, Alex left Agharta for Arkane Studios in Lyon, where he is credited as a game systems designer on Dishonored 2, Dishonored: Death of the Outsider, Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot and Deathloop; his profile now says he is working on Marvel’s Blade. He has said he would like to finish the series one day, remastered with Episode 04, on Steam.[2][4][8]

In 2024 he thanked the archive’s own Ligudink Teuf for a two-hour documentary about 1112’s genesis.[8]

“I wanted to make one of the largest adventure games possible. I had planned a gigantic Episode 04 to finish 1112, as large as the first three episodes combined.”[2]
